A wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s best-selling novels, the play was conceived for the stage by directors, Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, and written by Rick Elice, with music by Wayne Barker. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair... and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is fast-paced, wildly funny with a truly fresh and vibrant score. This bee is one unforgettable experience as an eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful den of comedic genius.

Please note that an exchange might result in a different seating location. If new ticket cost is higher the difference may be charged.

For every subscription you purchase you will be able to purchase an equal number of tickets at a 20% discount!
For example, if you purchase two subscriptions, you’ll be able to purchase two tickets for one performance of another show at a 20% discount. You will be able to select a performance from one of the following (subject to change): Mainstage shows; Sunday Broadway Concert Series; Holiday show; Special Events.

How to Renew your Subscription

If you want the same seats and same days of the runs as you had in 2026 - This will be the only period in which the same seats for you are guaranteed.

Monday, August 31 through Sunday, September 6

It will be very simple.

Email Jeff (jeff@legacytheatrect.org) or call him (203-315-1901) and simply say: “Jeff, please renew our Mainstage Subscription with the same seats and same day of the runs for 2027.” He will then email you a link to complete the order. Or, if you prefer, he can give you a call.
In Person: Stop by the theatre on Monday, August 31, 11am-4pm, or on Friday, September 4 stop by BACA (1004 Main St., across from the Branford Green) 11am - 2pm.
