Internships

The Legacy Theatre offers unpaid Internship opportunities, which may provide

  • Portfolio Building: Opportunities to document work for professional portfolios or teaching artist resumes

  • School Credit (please check with your learning institution)

  • Community Service Hours (please check with your community organization)

Theatre Production Internships support:

  • A passion for the "how-it-works" of technical theatre.

  • Have strong organizational skills and the ability to pivot between task prioritization.

Summer Musical Theatre Experience Internship support:

  • A passions for "how-to-teach" youth arts.

  • Summer Musical Theatre Experience Director in giving our participants (ages 7-16) a fun, educational and theatre-driven experience!

All Internship applicants must:

  • Be friendly, relaible, able to work as part of a team or individually, with a passion for providing the best customer service to all of our patrons!

  • Have reliable transportation and a commitment to the agreed upon schedule.

  • Complete a Background Check: Successful completion of a background check is required due to the direct involvement with youth programs.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for Spring, Summer, and Fall programs.

The Spring program is typically Janaury-April, the Summer Program is May-August, and the Fall Program is September-December. The level and frequency of involvement for each program is dependent upon the needs of the theatre at the given time. The Summer program is typically the most active.

We understand that schooling and other committments may impact the specifics of your availability and will consider options to accomodate.

Theatre Production Internship may include, but are not limited to:

  • Organization/pick-up of props, costumes, scenery, etc. at thetare and off-site storage locations

  • Assist with the daily running of rehearsals and performances

  • Serve as a crew member for Legacy productions

  • Take rehearsal notes and production meeting minutes to distribute to appropriate personnel

  • Assist with administrative tasks in other production departments

  • Assist with the strike of productions

  • Assist the scenic, lighting, sound designers as needed

  • Requirements:

    • Must have own transportation and the ability to travel between the theatre and storage/costume facilities

    • Weekend/evening availability

    • Strong attention to detail, meticulously organized

    • Comfortable working with a wide range of people from children to seniors, professional actors and crew

    • Previous experience in theatre, in any capacity, is preferred (school, community, professional theatre)

Summer Musical Theatre Experience Internship may include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as a teaching assistant during our Summer Musical Theatre Experience (for ages 7-16)

  • Assist with check-in and class management

  • Support teaching artists as needed, help lead activities and programs as needed

  • Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, returning emails and calls, pick ups and drop offs, etc.

  • Support Summer Musical Theatre Experience Director and theatre staff as needed

  • Requirements:

    • Must have own transportation and the ability to travel between the theatre and “Experience” locales (local)

    • Weekend/evening availability

    • Strong attention to detail, meticulously organized

    • Comfortable working with a wide range of people from children to seniors, professional actors and crew

    • Prior experience with theatre, and/or camp counseling preferred
